Aboriginal Traineeship Program

In the 2022-23 financial year, DPC engaged two trainees through the Aboriginal Traineeship Program.

DPC Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Employment Pool Program

As at 30 June 2023, 369 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates were registered on the DPC Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Employment Pools.  The employment pools are available to applicants for non-executive vacancies across all classifications.

During the 2022-23 financial year, 5 candidates from the pool were engaged in roles within the department.

Career Trackers Internship

DPC formalised a partnership with Career Trackers this financial year.

Career Trackers engages with First Nations people engaged in tertiary education and connects them with paid internships across the Public and Private Sector.

The internship commenced in June over the university’s winter break and will resume with the same intern returning to DPC again in November at the conclusion of the semester.

Aboriginal Career Pathways program

In 2022-23, 6 Aboriginal employees participated in the DPC Aboriginal Career Pathways program, involving an Organisational Development Consultant working one-on-one with Aboriginal employees to undertake career planning, vocational assessments and create tailored development plans
