In February 2024, the state government hosted a Major Economic Summit in the Upper Spencer Gulf.
The summit featured three public forums across the region’s key centres:
- Whyalla– Sunday 25 February 2024 at the Westland Hotel Motel
- Port Augusta–Monday 26 February 2024 at the Central Oval Community Sporting Hub
- Port Pirie– Tuesday 27 February 2024 at the Port Pirie Sport Precinct.
Community members had the opportunity to join Premier Peter Malinauskas to learn more about our state’s once-in-a-generation opportunity to lead the world in renewable hydrogen energy, green steel and copper production.
The events provided a chance for the public to ask questions and have their say, following a series of announcements about the economic future of the Upper Spencer Gulf.
