The Multicultural Festival is an accessible event.

All entry points are accessible for wheelchair users.

There is a drop-off/pick-up zone near the north-eastern corner of the event, by the stage. You can access the zone by driving south on King William Street, turning right off Franklin Street or left off Flinders Street.

Auslan interpreters are at the performance stage.

There will be two information stalls at the festival where staff can offer support if you are feeling overwhelmed or have other specific requirements. The stalls are located:

• on the north-east side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga – if you are facing the performance stage, it is on the right-hand side
• on the south side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga – if you are standing under the flagpoles facing south, it is on your left-hand side.

If you have requirements beyond what our staff can help with, please contact a specialised assistance service before attending the Multicultural Festival.

Sensory space

See below for information about our sensory regulation space.

The Multicultural Festival is an alcohol-free, smoke-free and vape-free event.

You cannot have, use, give or sell any products that include or are related to alcohol, smoking or vaping.

If you attend the festival under the influence of alcohol or drugs, security may ask you to leave.

Accredited assistance animals will be permitted inside the Multicultural Festival venue. Any other pets or animals will not be permitted.

You can buy food and drinks directly from stallholders.

There are no ATM or cash withdrawal machines located within the event or Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.

Many stallholders will have EFTPOS or other payment options available, but please bring cash with you.

Visit your bank's website to find your nearest ATM.

You are welcome to bring your water bottle to the event.

You can use the free SA Water Hydration Station, Quench Bench, or drinking fountains around the event to refill your personal water bottles.

The SA Water Hydration Station is located near the information desk on the north-east side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.

St John First Aid is available for anyone who needs medical help.

There are two First Aid tents, which are:

• near the information stall, at the north-eastern corner of the event – if you are facing the performance stage, it is on the right-hand side
• near the footpath under the trees on the south side of the event.

In case of a medical emergency, please alert your nearest event or security staff member, who will contact St John to come to you. St John will arrange for an ambulance to attend, if needed.

If you are feeling unwell, please stay home to reduce the risk of catching or spreading illness. Please avoid coming to the festival or into contact with other attendees.

There are two staffed information stalls in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga:

• on the north-east side – if you are facing the performance stage, it is on the right-hand side
• on the south side – if you are standing under the flagpoles facing facing the Community Services pavillion, it is on your left-hand side.

There are large program and map signs around the festival.

Please visit the information booth to register any personal items you lose at the event. You can also email MulticulturalEvents@sa.gov.au after the event to see if your lost property has been found.

The Multicultural Festival is operating under a Noise Mitigation Plan in line with the City of Adelaide guidelines. Read their Noise in the City fact sheet for more information.

Concerns about noise levels during the event can be directed to the Multicultural Affairs Events Team by calling 0459 851 341 from 6am-9pm on Sunday 1 November 2026.

South Australia’s multicultural community groups were invited to apply for Multicultural Festival Grants earlier this year. Only grant recipients can participate in the event.

There was incredibly strong interest from our state's diverse and talented community groups, and we are excited about all they are doing to bring this year's festival to life.

Applications are now closed and there are no further opportunities to participate in this year's event.

A multifaith prayer space is available on the southern side of the event, behind the Community Services Hub. If you are looking at the pavilion facing south, it is on the right-hand side of the pavilion. Look for the flag signs to the prayer space.

The Multicultural Festival is a respectful event. It's a day to learn about and appreciate South Australia’s many cultures and diverse community in a positive, family friendly setting.

Disrespectful behaviour or messaging toward other people or cultures will not be tolerated.

Any person, group or organisation that chooses to display any behaviours or messages that do not reflect the intent of the Multicultural Festival may be required to leave the event.

The road between the north and south sides of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, known as Reconciliation Plaza, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 3pm on 31 October until midnight 1 November, with detours in place.

Pedestrians can enter the festival via:

• gates on either side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga near Reconciliation Plaza (the road between the north and south sides of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga)
• the north-east gate of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga (near the stage and Christmas tree).

The event has a ‘three bins waste system’:

• green bins for food waste
• yellow bins for cardboard, paper, bottles and cans
• red bins for other dry waste.

Please use the right bin for your rubbish.

Single-use plastics, such as straws, cutlery, cups, plates, stirrers and soy sauce 'fish' containers – including bioplastic alternatives – are prohibited from supply and distribution in South Australia. They will not be used at the event.

Security personnel are at the event and identifiable via their gold shirt with ‘Security’ on the back.

If you have concerns about your own safety, the safety of other people, or anything suspicious at the event, please report them to security or event staff immediately.

The Multicultural Festival is full of colour, movement and music. If you need a short break from the action, you are welcome to use the designated sensory space.

The space is designed for anyone who needs to regulate their senses before going back to enjoy the fun. It is not a care facility – please do not leave children unattended.

The sensory space is a bus located on the far southern side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, at the opposite end of the event to the performance stage. If you are standing at the flagpoles, the bus is on your right-hand side.

There are no secure facilities for bags or other personal belongings at the event.

Please always keep your personal items with you and do not leave bags or other items unattended. We recommend you carefully consider the need to bring any valuables to the event.

Support our sustainable event by carpooling, catching public transport, cycling, or walking.

Public transport

Public transport is charged at the ‘off-peak’ rate all day on Sundays for weekend bus, train and tram services.

Use the Adelaide Metro journey planner to find your best service to get to the event. Type ‘Victoria Square’ in the ‘to’ box to find your closest stop for the event.

Any bus or tram stop changes or service disruptions on the event day will be available on the Adelaide Metro website.

Tram

The Tarntanyangga/Victoria Square tram stop is about 50m from the entry gate.

You can use the tram for free within the city centre (between the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and South Terrace). Outside of this zone, you’ll need to purchase a ticket.

Free city bus

The free City Connector bus is a hop-on and hop-off service to the City and North Adelaide. Bus route 98A and 98C connect North Adelaide with the city, and 99A and 99C connect the inner-city.

The closest stops to the event are stop D3 on Grote Street (for C routes) or stop E1 on King William Street (for A routes).

Car parking

There is a range of short and long-term public parking facilities, both on-street and off-street, within the city of Adelaide.
