A new state action plan sets out the practical steps the Government of South Australia will take to break down barriers and work towards a more autism-inclusive South Australia.

The SA Autism Strategy Action Plan 2025-2029 outlines a roadmap to delivering our commitment to building a more accessible and inclusive state for Autistic people. This whole of government plan is designed to deliver meaningful, practical outcomes for neurodivergent people, building on the landmark SA Autism Strategy 2024-2029, which was launched in June 2024.
The action plan was guided by feedback from Autistic people, their families and carers. Advocacy organisations and service providers also contributed. The Office for Autism has played a key role in supporting the development of the action plan as part of their role towards achieving positive change for our state where Autistic individuals can live their best lives, and their families and communities are supported and valued.
Feedback shaped the plan’s seven key focus areas:
- pathways to diagnosis
- positive educational experiences
- thriving in the workplace
- access to supports and services
- participation in the community
- access to health and mental health services
- interactions with the justice system.
Commitments under these seven focus areas are designed to meet the shifting needs and priorities of the Autistic and autism communities, placing neurodiversity and lived experience at the centre of their delivery.
The action plan can be found on the Inclusive SA website and should be read in conjunction with the SA Autism Strategy 2024-2029.
