Multicultural Affairs was proud to host a float at the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant on Saturday 2 November 2024.

Large group of pageant participants wearing brightly coloured clothing representing many different cultures

Since 1933, the Christmas Pageant has been the traditional start to the Christmas season in South Australia and once again, the biggest public parade in the Southern Hemisphere brought festive cheer to thousands of people lining the streets of Adelaide and watching from home.

Multicultural Affairs was proud to host the ‘Shaping our Wonderful World’ float at this year's event, featuring some of our state’s many multicultural communities.

The float was led by an energetic performance from the Chinatown Adelaide Dragon Dance Group and accompanied by six multicultural groups representing their communities:

  • Adelaide Macedonian Folkloric Ensemble "Slobodoa" of the Macedonian Community of Adelaide and South Australia
  • Chilean Community of South Australia
  • Incas Peru Association of South Australia
  • Kenyan Association of South Australia
  • Papua New Guinea Association of South Australia
  • Samahan Filipino-Australian SA.

Thanks to all who participated!

At least 80 different countries have been represented as part of Multicultural Affairs’ involvement in the pageant since the original ‘Christmas Around the World’ float was first introduced in 2004.
