South Australians were invited to provide feedback on a new Multicultural Charter for the state.
Developing a Multicultural Charter is a key action from the South Australian Multicultural Act 2021, which started on 2 December 2021.
A draft Multicultural Charter has been developed in consultation with a working group that includes South Australian Multicultural Commission members along with representatives from leading multicultural organisations, universities, government and the community.
The Multicultural Charter contains principles that will guide policy development and help inform service delivery across the state.
Once complete, the Multicultural Charter will help organisations promote understanding and respect through increased cultural awareness and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies.
Community consultation was done through October and November, with a mix of in-person and online forums, and an online survey through YourSAy. Written submissions were accepted by post or email.
Members of the South Australian Multicultural Commission, the leading advisory body on multicultural affairs, will lead the in-person and online consultations, with the support of Multicultural Affairs, Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
