Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge this land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.
The establishment of a Cross Border Commissioner in South Australia is a strong commitment to provide support to South Australia’s regions. In its first 100 days, the Office of the Commissioner undertook significant stakeholder engagement to develop strategic priorities for the delivery of critical functions.
At the end of 2023, the government reviewed the operations, role and structure of the Office of the Cross Border Commissioner. Given the diverse range of matters facing cross-border communities, the decision was made for the Commissioner to report to the Premier, with administrative support from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC).
This change became effective from 11 April 2024, when I was appointed acting Cross Border Commissioner.
Positioning the Office of the Cross Border Commissioner under DPC will increase focus on cross-border issues across the State Government and centralise coordination of actions that involve multiple government departments.
I would like to thank the inaugural Cross Border Commissioner, Liz McKinnon for her outstanding commitment and contribution to the role.
