The 2023 Multicultural Festival will be held on Sunday 12 November, from 11am to 5pm in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, Adelaide.

The free, family-friendly day is the state government’s flagship event to celebrate the many cultures and languages in South Australia.

There’ll be more than 75 multicultural community groups showcasing and celebrating their cultural heritage through music, dance, food, arts and crafts.

This year, we are proud to support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, to help make the event safe, inclusive, and accessible for everyone.

Nearly 20% of the population has a disability and not all disabilities are visible. Hidden disabilities can include autism, anxiety, dementia, mental health conditions, and visual and hearing difficulties.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a global campaign for all non-visible disabilities. People can wear the sunflower lanyard to clearly signal that they have a hidden disability and may need additional assistance, as well as time or just a little patience.

Event staff wearing white sunflower lanyards have received training to help them support attendees who may need assistance.

Another first for this year’s Multicultural Festival is our sensory space, for anyone needing a short time away from the stimulation of the event environment. It is a relaxing and limited sensory space for people to retreat from the event if needed, and is available for anyone who needs it, disability or not.

There’s so much to see, do and experience at the 2023 Multicultural Festival. Come along to experience the world’s cultures, right in the heart of Adelaide.
