The Government of South Australia has released a 5-year plan to implement recommendations of the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.
The Royal Commission marked a defining moment in our state’s history and issued an urgent call to action.
Building safer futures - the government’s response - was a commitment to act. 63 recommendations were accepted in full, 19 in part, and 6 noted, with a further 45 accepted in principle.
The implementation plan is the early blueprint for delivering on this commitment over the next 5 years.
The plan is led by a clear vision for the future, where people of all ages, abilities and identities are safe, respected, and supported to be free from the experience and use of domestic, family and sexual violence.
The initial focus is on uplifting and stabilising the existing system, to position it for broader reform that will start from mid-2027.
Early actions have included establishing a standalone DFSV ministerial portfolio, funding Embolden to establish and manage the Lived Experience Advisory Networks, and establishing the Office of DFSV.
The government acknowledges and thanks those who have contributed individual and collective expertise and lived experiences to the planning process.
