The team will use their $15,000 seed funding to develop EndoBox - a fun online space for kids aged 7 to 12 to explore and experience free, open gameplay with their closest friends and family.

Using the South Australian Government’s D3 toolkit, South Australia Cyber Security Innovation Node (AustCyber) partnered with the SA Commissioner for Children and Young People on this year’s D3 Digital Challenge.

The D3 Digital Challenge initiative brings together innovators with the community to Discuss, Design and Deliver (D3) digital solutions to different challenges everyday people face.

D3 Challenge #7 focussed on finding a solution that supports young people to interact with confidence in the online world, such as knowing when to 'block', 'ignore', 'report', 'delete' and 'speak up' when they feel unsafe.

After two days of design thinking and pitch coaching, five local entrepreneurial teams pitched their business concepts to a panel of judges on Monday 5 August at MOD.

Judges included Michelle Price (CEO AustCyber), David Goodman (Chief Information Security Officer, Department of the Premier and Cabinet), Mohan Koo (Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Dtex Systems) and Helen Connolly (Commissioner for Children and Young People) who was accompanied by three young alumni from the South Australia Department for Education's TEAM Ambassadors' program.

The Young People's Choice Award, presented by Helen Connolly and three youth advisors, was awarded to team Vanguard. This award recognised the team that demonstrated it had kept young people at the forefront of their digital design thinking.

Vanguard's idea was a helpline style service, First Contact, an anonymous, user friendly and trustworthy digital space where young people can obtain free advice on cyber safety and related issues provided by volunteer university students.
