Australian Cyber Week will be celebrated from 26-30 October 2020 with activities held virtually and in person, including the National Missing Persons Hackathon.

The National Missing Persons Hackathon is a partnership between AustCyber, Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Trace Labs. The event provides an opportunity for ethical hackers around Australia to compete against each other using open source intelligence (OSINT) to find the most new leads, which may help solve Australian missing persons cases.

In 2019, the participants of the inaugural hackathon uncovered 3,912 new leads for Australian law enforcement agencies and was won by Adelaide team SaabAU.

If you are interested in participating in the hackathon on Thursday 29 October, register via Eventbrite.

Australian Cyber Week aims to promote careers in the cyber security industry and increase South Australia’s cyber capability and resilience.

For more information about upcoming events, keep an eye on the department’s ICT and Digital Government Twitter and Facebook, as well as the AustCyber Twitter and Facebook.
