The Chair of each committee is responsible for setting the committee’s agenda within the bounds of its terms of reference. Committee agendas can be comprised of strategic discussions (similar to the Thursday Cabinet strategic discussions) or more formal Cabinet papers in the form of notes or submissions.
Matters falling within each committee’s terms of reference can also be referred to it by the Cabinet Secretary through the Authority to Lodge process.
Cabinet committees can apply one of the following decisions to any Cabinet paper they consider:
- approved to proceed to Cabinet
- approved to proceed to Cabinet as amended
- not approved to proceed to Cabinet.
