In order to maintain the confidentiality of Cabinet Committee deliberations, attendance should be restricted to ministers and a small number of officials.

Cabinet committees can consider a submission, note or strategic discussion item.

Cabinet papers may also be referred to a committee by the Cabinet Secretary or via the Cabinet Office and DTF commenting stage.

Use the Cabinet submission template for proposals seeking consideration from the Cabinet committee.

Use the Cabinet note template when bringing a matter to a committee for noting or information.

A strategic discussion item can be supported by an A3 discussion paper in a similar way to Thursday Cabinet strategic discussions. Contact Cabinet Office and speak to the committee Executive Officer for more information about A3 discussion papers.

Committees meet at the discretion of the Chairs noting some committees have a more regular meeting schedule than others.
