Four applications to the Public Art and Design April 2020 round received funding totalling $45,664.

The Public Art and Design grants program promotes, facilitates and supports the commissioning of high quality new works of art and design for public places by practising, professional South Australian artists.
The aim of the grants program is to enhance the public experience of contemporary art and encourage professional opportunities for artists.
Amongst the successful applicants to the April 2020 Commission Support Funding category was Renewal SA for the Tonsley Admin Building - Art Installation project. South Australian based artist, Sam Songailo, was selected from an open call to create a large-scale mural with a bespoke lighting feature as the gateway artwork for the Tonsley precinct (pictured above). Sam has designed a striking, contemporary entry statement for the site.
Leafy Sea Dragon Mosaic (detail), Beachport SA. Designed by Michael Tye in 2010 and made with the assistance of local community volunteers. The mosaic wall is 3m long and 1.5m high.
The Kingston District Council received funding to enable artist Michael Tye to work with local residents to create a mosaic mural to recognise the 83-year contribution of the Kingston Country Women’s Association to the community. Michael is a skilled artisan with solid community arts experience. An example of one of Michael’s earlier community work is pictured above.
