The April 2020 funding round of the Public Art and Design Program is now open, inviting commissioners to apply for funding to support high quality new works of art and design for public places by practicing professional South Australian artists.

Project Seed funding supports fees for professional practicing South Australian artists to participate in the concept development stage of a public art project.
Commission Support funding supports the commissioning of new public art works by practicing professional South Australian artists for presentation in a high profile, publicly accessible location throughout South Australia.
The City of Prospect received $6000 Project Seed funding for the Grand Foyer Public Artwork project in the April 2018 round. The project has developed into a major public art opportunity for South Australian artist Karl Meyer, the proposed kinetic work, Threads in Motion (see picture above),will be suspended above the Grand Foyer staircase in Prospect’s new Payinthi building that houses a community hub, art gallery and library.

Commission Support Funding of $15,000, recommended in the December 2018 grant round, is assisting Cindy Drennan to develop a bespoke projection work for the Cape Jervis Lighthouse Illuminated project (see picture above), to be screened during the 2021 Festival Fleurieu.
