The Independent Makers and Presenters program supports art making, presentation and professional development across art forms. Our congratulations go to successful applicants in the November 2019 round, with recommended grants totalling over $413 000.

Twenty-six grants were awarded in the Project Grant category across art forms, totalling over $296 000.

Amongst the successful applicants was ceramicist Honor Freeman (work pictured above). Honor was awarded $6350 to produce a new body of work for a solo exhibition at Hugo Michell Gallery in 2020. Working primarily in porcelain, Honor will create an intimate and immersive installation.

Nine applications were recommended for professional development funding across art forms, totalling over $116 000. This includes Fellowships, Individual Development, Building Pathways and Emerging Artist Development categories.

Musician and composer David Kotlowy (pictured below) was awarded a $50 000 Fellowship to undertake a sustained period of composition for Gamelan. The grant will enable David to participate in ensemble based residencies and workshops in Ireland, the UK, and Japan.
