This grant supports the creation of new work across all art forms by individual professional artists and groups or unfunded arts and cultural organisations, through a staged funding commitment over two years. It recognises the benefits that an extended development process can offer some arts projects.

It is anticipated that this funding will enable artists to seed and develop innovative new ideas, which may, in some cases, lead to opportunities to secure funding for larger scale collaborative or commissioned project outcomes.

The grant will support all stages of development, including creative and project development, research, making of work and creative development showings. Projects may or may not have a final public presentation outcome.

Funded outcomes may include the development and preparation of manuscripts for publishing. Self-directed artist residencies with an organisation or in community, or discrete curated programs of activity are also eligible (excluding repeat annual programs).
