Trainee Caleb Smith and Graduate Holly Mason share their experiences as young people within the public sector.

Our department is committed to being an employer of choice and is supportive of creating opportunities for young people starting out.

As youth, Caleb and Holly bring fresh perspectives to our department and give colleagues the opportunity to share their wealth of experience.

Caleb is currently part of the Multicultural Affairs team and Holly works in People and Culture.

When asked what advice he might share with others starting in government, Caleb says, “Asking questions is always important. You don’t allow yourself to develop if you’re too afraid to make mistakes”.

International Youth Day is observed on 12 August 2020, themed Youth Engagement for Global Action. The United Nations theme encourages young people to get involved in local, national and global issues that affect them.
