Dr Jon Gorvett commenced as Deputy Chief Executive on 27 July 2021.

The Deputy Chief Executive supports the Chief Executive in leading the Department of the Premier and Cabinet to help deliver the Government’s vision for South Australia.

Jon originally joined the Department of Premier and Cabinet in 2017 as an Executive Director and has significant experience in government, both in Australia and overseas.

He has been South Australia’s representative on bodies supporting National Cabinet and overseeing national coordination emergency management and recovery.

Jon led the intergovernmental relations and emergency management teams responding to the bushfires of 2019–20 and the management of COVID-19. He has also led the diplomatic relations and protocol teams in delivering the Premier’s diplomatic and protocol engagement program.

Before joining the Department of Premier and Cabinet he was a Director at the Department for Environment and Water and his public sector experience also takes in roles with the UK Government in London and the European Union.
