An independent review of the emergency management response to the extreme weather event that took place in South Australia between 28 September and 5 October 2016 was announced by Premier Jay Weatherill on 4 October 2016.
The review was led by former South Australia Police Commissioner Gary Burns who investigated the adequacy of the state’s prevention, preparedness, response and recovery arrangements.
His report identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends changes to the state’s arrangements.
The government has considered the Review and has responded in detail in the document below. It is committed to ensuring that the state is well placed to prevent (or minimise) the impacts, prepare for, respond to and recover from extreme weather events.
